Between Resurrection and Ascension
Am I the only one that wonders what ” matters concerning the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:6) Jesus spoke of and why the apostles did not speak more on those matters? This odd 40 days of silence perplexes me. Certainly, the disciples thought that Jesus was back and imminently going to restore the “Kingdom of Israel.” Just as they were sure He was going to do prior to the cross….but still, what of the silence on those 40 days?
Were they so focused on this idea of Jesus restoring the earthly Kingdom that they thought it not necessary to record these things?
Is there a lesson or message for us in that 40 days of silence between the resurrection and ascension? Your thoughts?

sorry, no doubt i am being thick, but what do you mean by silence?
Paul,
I guess we have very few accounts of what Jesus said about the Kingdom during His 40 days after resurrection. We know from Acts that said many things, but we don’t know much of what they were. That just puzzles me….
I am also caught in between the resurrection and ascension. I am struggling to find something to preach out of this material. It has pressed me between a rock and a hard place. Both Matthew and John’s accounts add uncommon stories (the bribery of the guards and the reenactment of the great catch of fish). Right now I’m leaning toward the results His presence brought to His followers and whether there is a parallel for us when we are fearful and doubtful.
