Whoaaaa Nelly!
Good for you! It’s about time we started really talking about sex. I have led quite a few youth trips in my time. On one particular trip, we were on mission in Scotland. There was ALOT of flirting happening between the guys and the girls. Girls sitting on guys laps “as friends” many full frontal hugs and the like. I sat my girls down (all Seniors in High School) and had a very frank discussion about sexuality, erections, the differences between females and males, etc etc. How, as sisters in Christ, we need to make sure our actions (lap sitting etc) does not cause our brothers to stumble. I tried to explain how much power women have sexually and how we MUST be careful and considerate. Anyway, the whole point is that the poor youth pastor took some heat from parents about this discussion. I couldn’t believe it. Here I was, trying to come along these girls, (who, by the way, would be leaving for college in less than a year), and talk to them about appropriate behavior. However, because I used the word erection, parents freaked.
Do we want our young people to understand the beauty and power of sex? Let’s start REALLY talking about it.
Christian Coalition president-elect quits over agenda qualms
“The Rev. Joel Hunter, of Northland Church, a nondenominational congregation in Longwood, Fla., said he quit as president-elect of the group founded by evangelist Pat Robertson because he realized he would be unable to broaden the organization’s agenda beyond opposing abortion and gay marriage.”
Even sadder is the fact that members of Christian Coalition complain that the organization has become “too liberal and diffuse”. Too liberal and diffuse? Are you kidding me? Rev. Hunter resigned because he realized that he would be unable to get the organiztion to think beyond abortion and homosexuality? And yet members are concerned that CC is getting too liberal and diffuse. This is exactly why the world caricatures the church as a bunch of narrow-minded, unloving jackasses. PUHLEASE.
